This recipe is simple, kid-approved, and perfect for cold and flu season. Plus, making your own gummies at home saves money and lets you control the ingredients!

Why Make Elderberry Syrup at Home?

Elderberries have been used for centuries as a natural remedy to help fight colds, flu, and seasonal sniffles. They’re packed with vitamin C, antioxidants, and flavonoids that support immune health. When combined with warming spices like ginger and cinnamon, elderberry syrup becomes a comforting and health-boosting tonic.

Making elderberry syrup at home is so much cheaper than buying already made bottles, which is what made me start making my own. For how much money we saved and how simple it was to make, it was a no-brainer!

Plus, making it at home means you know exactly what’s in it—and you can adjust sweetness to your liking.

Here is the recipe for my elderberry syrup.

Simply pour the mixture into a dish, refrigerate, and cut into squares once set.

Tips for the Best Elderberry Gummies

  • Use grass-fed gelatin for the best texture and added health benefits.

  • Avoid boiling the syrup—gentle heat helps preserve the elderberry’s nutrients.

  • For kids, fun silicone molds (like stars or bears) make these extra appealing.

  • If you prefer vegan gummies, swap gelatin for agar agar, though the texture will differ.
