FAQs
What kind of dates work best for this recipe?
Medjool dates work best because they’re soft, naturally sweet, and large enough to hold a generous amount of peanut butter. Make sure they’re pitted before filling.
Can I use a different nut or seed butter?
Yes! Almond butter, cashew butter, or sunflower seed butter all work well. Just choose one with a thick consistency so it doesn’t leak out.
What type of chocolate should I use?
Any melted chocolate will work—dark, semi-sweet, or dairy-free. For a refined sugar–free option, use a naturally sweetened chocolate.
Do I need a football-shaped mold?
A football mold makes these extra fun for game day, but it’s not required. If you don’t have a mold, you can dip the stuffed dates in chocolate and pipe on laces with white chocolate.
How long do they need to freeze?
They usually set in about 10–15 minutes in the freezer, depending on how thick the chocolate layer is.
How should I store Football Stuffed Dates?
Store them in an airtight container in the fridge for up to one week or in the freezer for up to three months.
Are these good for kids?
Yes! These are a great kid-friendly treat for football parties. If serving to younger kids, be sure the dates are fully pitted and cut in half if needed.
Can I make these ahead of time?
Definitely. These are perfect for prepping ahead since they store well in the fridge or freezer and don’t require reheating.
