Tips for the best Sourdough Protein Waffles
- Let the batter rest for a few minutes before cooking to allow the flour to absorb the liquid.
- Preheat the waffle iron completely to get crispy, golden waffles.
- Grease the waffle iron lightly to prevent sticking, especially with gluten-free flours.
- Don’t overmix the batter—a few lumps are okay and will keep the waffles tender.
- Top with protein-packed options like nut butter, Greek yogurt, or a sprinkle of hemp seeds.

FAQs
Can I use all-purpose flour instead of gluten-free flour?
Yes! You can swap the gluten-free 1:1 flour with all-purpose flour if you don’t need a gluten-free option.
Can I make these dairy-free?
Absolutely! Swap Greek yogurt for a thick dairy-free yogurt and use almond milk or another plant-based milk.
What kind of protein powder works best?
A vanilla-flavored protein powder works best for a balanced flavor, but you can use any protein powder you prefer.
How do I store and reheat these waffles?
Store leftover waffles in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 3 days. Reheat in a toaster or oven for a crispy texture.
Can I freeze them?
Yes! Freeze waffles in a single layer, then transfer them to a freezer bag. Reheat from frozen in a toaster or oven.
