FAQs

Can I make this ahead of time?
Yes! Store the pasta in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 2 days. Add a little olive oil before serving to keep it from sticking.

Will the dye stain my hands?
Most natural dyes won’t stain, but wearing gloves can help prevent any temporary discoloration.

What dishes pair well with rainbow pasta?
Try it with a light alfredo sauce, a lemon garlic drizzle, or a simple olive oil and herb dressing.

  • Natural dye red, yellow, orange, green, blue, and indigo
  • 2 tbsp water per color
  • 1 tsp natural dye per color
  • Olive oil or melted butter

Instructions

  • Cook the Pasta – Prepare the pasta according to package directions. Once cooked, drain and rinse under cold water to prevent sticking.
  • Prepare the Dye Bags – Fill sandwich-sized ziplock bags with 2 tbsp of water and 1 tsp of your chosen natural food dye. Repeat for each color.
  • Dye the Pasta – Divide the pasta evenly between the dye bags, seal, and gently shake to distribute the color.
