Ingredients

  • 1 lb pasta I used white rice pasta
  • Natural dye red, yellow, orange, green, blue, and indigo
  • 2 tbsp water per color
  • 1 tsp natural dye per color
  • Olive oil or melted butter

Instructions

  • Cook the Pasta – Prepare the pasta according to package directions. Once cooked, drain and rinse under cold water to prevent sticking.
  • Prepare the Dye Bags – Fill sandwich-sized ziplock bags with 2 tbsp of water and 1 tsp of your chosen natural food dye. Repeat for each color.
  • Dye the Pasta – Divide the pasta evenly between the dye bags, seal, and gently shake to distribute the color.
  • Let it Sit – Place the bags in the refrigerator and let them sit until you achieve your desired hue. Darker colors absorb faster, while lighter colors (yellow, orange) may take about an hour.
  • Rinse & Serve – Remove pasta from the bags, rinse to remove excess dye, and toss together in a large serving bowl. Drizzle with olive oil or melted butter, mix, and enjoy your beautiful rainbow pasta!
